OceanStar Technologies Inc. is a Canadian technology company building smart monitoring systems for the aquaculture industry. We design and manufacture IoT hardware and software that helps Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS) operators keep track of their water quality in real time, catch problems before they get serious, and run their facilities more efficiently.
Our Mission
To provide aquaculture operators with monitoring and automation tools that are affordable and easy to use — tools that help them keep their fish healthier, lower their costs, and farm in a way that is good for the environment. We believe every fish farmer deserves access to the same technology that large industrial operations use.
Our Vision
Within five years, we want to be the go-to provider of smart aquaculture technology in Canada. Beyond that, we plan to expand internationally, helping fish farmers around the world adopt modern technology for a more sustainable future. RAS is the future of fish farming — and smart monitoring is what makes RAS work.
Our Story
OceanStar was founded in August 2024 by Hoang Chuong Dang and Minh Hoa Do — two co-founders who saw a clear gap in the Canadian aquaculture industry. RAS facilities were growing rapidly across the country, but the monitoring tools available were either prohibitively expensive enterprise systems or unreliable consumer-grade sensors never designed for commercial aquaculture.
From March 2025, we shifted from planning to building — designing a custom circuit board, developing six industrial-grade water quality sensors, and constructing our first working prototype.
We tested that prototype in a real aquarium environment, validated our sensor readings against laboratory-grade equipment, and took our technology to the public — exhibiting at the Small Business Summit 2025 and Viet Expo 2025 in Toronto. The response from industry professionals confirmed what we believed: there is strong demand for affordable, reliable, purpose-built RAS monitoring technology.
Today, both co-founders have invested $100,000 CAD to fund the next phase: building our software platform, running pilot tests with real customers, and preparing for commercial launch. We are actively seeking our first pilot partners among Canadian RAS operators.
